Default Stock vs Progressive shocks

Just got a 2010 Heritage softail and been doing a little research into shock options. From this forum I gather the Shotguns are the best but won't be dropping that much coin this year. Next in line seems to be the progressive 422's.

My question is this. Is the difference in ride significant enough to replace the stock with 422's? ie is it wow or just nice?

Thanks

I've just bought some 422s but haven't fitted them yet. I've talked to a few people who've fitted them and they all say they make a difference once you've adjusted them to find the sweet spot. I'll find out.

I put the 422s on my Deluxe....and compared to stock, my opinion is that there is a better ride with the 422s....is it a "wow" ?? I would say no, but imo, it was worth the switch. Changed them out last year. Also changed out the fork oil to use the heavier weighted oil...that helped a lot in the front end and overall ride.

Really coin flipping here. I'm finding the little bumps in the road are bouncing me a bit and the big bumps are really bouncing me. I obv expect some but would like to smooth out the ride a little. Never thought about heavier oil in the front forks. Thanks for that idea.

+1 one everything edeluxe07 said, except for me it was a wow.

I weigh in at 265 and I have the stock shocks set at the max preload and I still bottomed a lot.

The 422's are set at 50% preload and are a little stiff for me but not enough to change it.

Extra +1 on the fork oil.
