Default Reduced Reach Solo Seat info needed

I am looking for input and any info and experience my fellow riders may have on Harley's new Super Reduced Reach Solo seat.

Wife is 5'3" tall, and rides a 2006 Deluxe. Even after modifiing the stock seat (several times) its still not quite where she needs it to be. Yes, she can flat foot the bike, but her legs are straight, so backing up is nearly impossible for her.

My questions on the seat are as follows

1) Is the seat comfortable enough for a long ride (400+ miles in a day)

2) how much difference did it make in your reach to the ground?

3) Is the seat worth the cost? or should we simply give up and get a Corbin Close Solo?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest a C&C solo. they can mod it to make it as low as you like. Corbin's are hard as a rock in my opinion although a lot of people swear by them, they are not for me. I lvoe my C&C. Nice adn comfy. I can get you discounted pricing on Corbin's, C&C, whatever you need. Let me know. PM or email me at DREW@DRVTWIN.COM

Already tried that, and while it did help, she refused to ride the darn thing cause it may as well have been a hardtail.

Thanks Drew, I'll keep that in mind. I know corbins are like a rock, and I am very reluctant to go that route, however, I am just as reluctant to order a custom seat, only to find that it doesn't do the job. I'd prefer something stock, so it an be returned if neccesary. Tried a mustang sols, but that was worse than her stockl seat. The HD super reduced solo, if it gives her the fit that the 2 up reach did, would be pretty good. She had the 2 up, but when we turned the bike into a solo set-up, well...suddenly she didn't like the look of the seat anymore.

Hell...can't win for losing It seems lol

Default super reach seat

I put a super reach seat on my 2011 Ultra Classic. The seat is not bad. It does cramp you between the seat and the gas tank, sometimes smashing things. Don't know if it would be such a bother to a female. Other than that, the seat is not really uncomfortable.

I'm not sure, but I think the seat is more about seating you closer to the tank than to the ground. I tried one out and it seems to have more padding on the back. A lot of dealerships have a mock bike setup where you can try different seat and handlebar combinations.

I installed the seat on my Wide Glide and it made a big difference for me. Not only did it put me about an inch lower but it also moved me forward. Now when my feet are on the pegs my knees have a nice bend to them and working the shifter and brake pedal are much, move comfortable.

For me the price was worth it but like emsdoc said it does cramp things up a bit.

If you order a C&C and it is still not right you can send it back and have it reworked as well. It will cost to have it reworked, but it is a thought.

I am also 5'3" and have a 2008 deluxe. I found the stock seat the best even though I cannot completely touch the ground. I have ridden it for 300 miles in a day & its comfortable enough for me, but the next day my thighs are sore. I think the stock seat is still a little too wide.

HOWEVER - the reduced reach seat (not super) was not comfortable to me. And also, I hated the way it looked. But mostly it seemed to tilt me forward and had me sitting more forward on my pelvic bone - which was definitely not comfortable.

I have thought about lowering the bike so I could reach the ground flat footed, but with my short legs - I'll still have trouble. I just have to be very careful about where I park & when I am not, I have to have help backing it out of a parking spot. I don't know if lowering the back would make it ride alot different.

And NO - you can't win for losing - my husband says the same thing. LOL
