When I got my first HD @ 29 yrs old, I preferred chrome. I'm 54 and still prefer chrome.
I think it's more of an individual thing. Of course HD is pushing the black look and other bike makers are following suit.
Good business sense. Less costly to paint and then charge the customer the same price.
I have the chrome Patriot on my FatBoy, but the chrome pipes are actually Stainless Steel underneath the heat shields, which will turn a golden color. I have seen photos of their GLOSS black pipes which look better (to me) than the flat black ones.
Don't believe the photos on their website, Very misleading,I thought i was getting gloss black and this is what they really look like (mine). I think they oiled up the black for the photo shoot. Now that their on the bike..i like um flat
