I scrape occasionally on my CrossBones. You'll find that any bike with boards will be difficult to not scrape around on. Although, Sportsters are the worst. I can't seem to ride one anywhere without scraping anytime I turn. Anyway, if scraping bothers you a lot, I'd suggest the forwards as well. They are more difficult to scrape. Otherwise, learn to love it. View it as your bike whispering sweet nothings into your ear.
It lets you know you're loving your bike proper like.

I like the scraping because it tells me I am 1" or so away from hooking the crash bar on something. Floorboards are $80 for a replacement set and they last a while from what I can tell unless your intentionally scraping the crap out of them.

I'm not doing it intentionally but it does happen and scares the **** outta me when I do but I am kinda getting used to it... the last time I did it was yesterday and I actually got a smile and grin on my face when it happened...

I am a very conservative rider and anything but a knee dragger and I scrape quite often.Still not use to it,but better the floor boards than my exhaust.

You're not scraping your floor boards... you're sharpening them. Enjoy! On a side note, I do scrape my pegs on occasion when we hit the twisties hard. It's a cruiser. It happens. Embrace it!

You could also put the rear shocks and springs off a stock softail on the bike that will raise it up an inch.

How much effect will installing a lowering kit or a Shotgun shock have on this problem?
