Yea, I scraped my Fatboy Lo since day 1 too and the noise almost made me have to change pants. But like the gentlemen said, I enjoy the sparks at night when they are being "sharpened". I also bought a jar of H-D black touch-up paint to cover the floor board edges if they get a little too sharp. Welcome to the Fatboy world of cruising!
mount ti strips to where your scraping, you wanna see sparks you should ride behind me, I got strips everywhere I've scrapped. My buds get farther back when I get into the corners......its a hoot
Considering putting forward controls on my Fatboy...I feel a little cramped with the floor boards and I also came from riding sport bikes...the scraping really messes with my head in the corners.
I put the Kuryakyn extenders on and I like them, but I've been caught a couple of times where I forgot my right foot wasn't near the brake pedal. Doh! Can you say instant adrenaline rush when you realize that the front brake alone isn't slowing you down fast enough? This was never a problem on a sport bike...you could stop on a dime with just a 2 finger grip on the front brake! Stopping a 700lb bike with single front disk is a different story than stopping a 400lb bike with dual front disks!
Ya..but you'll get use to that. I've learned to just laugh and enjoy the reactions from others around me. If you get a good scrape...it can put out sparks! You'll also learn to anticipate when it's going to happen and that will really help.
Right on - if you ain't scrapin' you ain't havin' any FUN.
