Putting on V&H Big Radius 2 into 2. Was wondering if anyone could help me out with the decision of Baffled or Non Baffled. I have a 06 night train and i want my bike to be loud, but not so loud i cant hear myself think. I am putting a SE heavy breather and tts mastertune on with it. If anyone has any helpful info I would appreciate the help!!
Baffled- great sound around town and cruising but not nasty and loud cracking the throttle (never really needed earplugs).
Nonbaffled- obnoxious loud around town but sounded great cracking the trottle (backfired and popped like crazy between shifts and on decel & I always need ear protection it was so loud). My butt dyno says I lost some tq too. Couldn't hear my girl on the back when we tried to talk while at lights and stops.
I think you should take them out and see what you think.
I pulled my baffles out this weekend.... sounds better to me.. lower.. not so tinny... my wife and I both feel like it's quieter at idle (more of a deep rumble now)
it's louder when getting on the throttle obviously.. but if you take it easy going through town it's not obnoxious... I live in a small town with an over zealous police dept.. I've passed them several times since I took them out this weekend.. (they were parked on the side of the road, windows down) they just wave..
my opinion.. sounds better.. take your out and see what you think.. you can always put them back in..
Non baffled would only be good for showing off the sound at places like a rally, bike show event, etc... (and I like loud), but other than that, what the Dr said is correct. Obnoxiously loud, loss of tq and ear plugs required and it ain't no fun for your passenger if you have one.
But as rrambo said, you can always put them back in!
Mine were installed stright out of the box. They are loud as hell baffled and sound great. I say leave them as they come, you will not be disappointed.
just got through going through Big City Thunder's website... they seem to have a lot of knowledge and I'm drinking their KoolAid.. might try putting their Original Thunder Monster baffles in.. I just don't like the sound of the stock BR baffles.. I'll leave them out until I can get some from BCT..
Thanks for all the info guys! I appreciate the help. Im going to try the baffled out first and if its not loud enough i'll try it without them. I'll check out those others too. Thanks again fellas
