Default toggle for odometer is gone

went to clean my '09 Deluxe and the toggle for stepping through trip odometer, gas mileage remaining, clock, etc. is gone. Just a hole in the side of the gas tank panel (left side). Has anyone else ever had this vibrate loose and fall off? just curious before contacting stealer to see how many $ to replace and maybe raising a bit of a stink - there's only a couple thousand miles on the bike... shouldn't fall off.

You need to get a new rubber boot, the switch must have been pulled or pushed inside the dash. Had it happen to mine too. some kid had unscrewed the rubber cover and pushed the switch in the housing. If you are lucky it is just sitting behind the hole, I could get mine back out with some tweezers. If that don't work, unbolt the dash, push the switch back through the hole and screw on the new rubber boot.

part number of the rubber boot that screws on that switch is: 67880-94 (if you are lucky they have one in stock)

New boot is a few dollars. I had it happen several times. Make sure the new on is on tight.

It may have vibrated loose and the switch is inside the tank apron. If you pm me ...ill send you back the part number for the complete switch. You'll need to pull the apron..and push the switch head back through the hole...then you can use the nut off the boot and nut off the new switch. I looked at my parts manual for the '10 Softail and the switch, boot, capture nut and pigtail are all one piece. When you reinstall ...add a little Thread lock blue to the switch housing thread and thought out to do it.

I lost two as I did not tighten them enough. The button itself will go back inside the dash as the rubber cover is what holds it outside the dash.

thanks guys. Never thought about the switch actually retracting back inside the tank console. I have found the rubber boot in my driveway, guess I know where the switch will be.

Just saw your post about the odometer toggle switch. I've lost the nut on my 08 Delux. Do you have the part # you mentioned? Thanks.
