Stupid thing almost left me stranded. Messing with it got the bike to start so I could get home and clean it. Simple to do on they **** type on my bike just remove the C clip on the back and the hole thing comes apart. I cleaned it with alcohol but with it off the bike I am sure any electrical cleaner will work. I then dabbed some electric grease on it and all is well.
I've had the same happen to me last year. 250 miles from home and I'm wiggling the switch at every gas stop. A small wire brush and some dielectric grease, you'll be good to go in no time.
