I looking to get a tuner and am leaning towards a HD super tuner. I've heard goods things about it and it can be changes as often as you change components on the bike. I'm thinking of doing the cams with my 95 engine and maybe someday a 103 kit. Good luck with your unit...
I'm going back to Harley tomorrow morning for my download with my head held low, because they said it would give me trouble... lol. As for my unit, it will sit on the shelf until next summer. I hope over the winter to get the heads done, at which point the PCV will go back on, but will be keeping the 103 map this time. I plan on running a zero map with it, along with the auto tune, and expect I will get good results. If I had more time, I would get the auto tune now and try to get things running better, but I leave thursday from the east coast of Canada, and will finish off in Georgia. I need something I can trust.
disheartening considering I just purchased mine today. My fingers are crossed!!!
Good luck. I hope yours goes better than mine. If there is a tuning shop around, it would be worth your money. Hope my experience didn't discourage you to much.
JLA,man your making me think,...First sorry to hear about your problems...But enjoy your trip, sounds like a winner ,be safe and enjoy!!..I`ve bin holding out for the TTS mastertune for my 2011 fatboy Lo....but i hear rumbling it`s not coming out for at least another 6 months.....soooo,my indy said he will install and tune,(dyno) a pc5 for me (his tuner of choice) and if i don`t like it ...he will refund my dough or put it toward a TTS......I`m dropping my scoot off monday morning....i have VH Big radius 2-1,and SE heavy breather....no engine work ( next years project....with the tts....lol)..don`t know much about this tuning stuff yet, but if there`s some way my tune info can help you.....(if it happens) ..again enjoy your ride bro
For as many people as there are that swear by these things there are just as many that have had problems. Not just the PCV but all tuners/computers.
I have a T-Max and although it was not perfect out of the box, I learned how to adjust it and now I can't imagine riding a bike without one. If you didn't have someone around that could tune it and you didn't go for the autotune, why would you have chosen that piece?
Not trying to kick you when you're down, just trying to get an idea of what was behind the purchase. Was there a problem with the download that you needed to get around? Really just curious.
I've had no problems with 2 PC III's and a PCV. The issue IMO is getting a build done and thinking a canned or base map might work. You owe it to yourself and the money you spent building a motor to get it tuned. Fuel moto does well at creating a good base/break in Map. I've had a T-max and would to say IMO a waste of good money.
sorry to hear man, i run a PC-V and i frigging love it... it really woke up the bike, however, i really dont care about mileage so different story for me i guess...
i am curious though, i've never run the bike all the way to empty but i normally gass up at around 125 to 140 miles (i only do city miles) and i have a heavy wrist so im not running the bike easy... how many miles do you expect per tank?
