I feel your pain. I too am waiting for fed ex. No problem with my wheel, just the wrong size. Hopefully next week it will show itself. It sucks when **** like your situation happens but better to work with a reputable company to get the bugs out. Hang in there. I'm glad you didn't have a failure with that wheel.
Yes -- I couldn't remember what Jay said but now that you say that he did mention a crush tube.
And yes I can feel the second thump when I ride -- I feel it in the handlebars, it comes right up the forks. Could not feel the first little thump.
I told Jay it feels like metal being released from pressure.
Sounds like the crush tube is to short and when the bearings move it releases the crush tube hitting the axle. maybe! If it is, its an easy fix and will save your bearing and wheel in the long run.
I would think if it were a spoke you could feel a loose one, I too feel it is either the crush tube int the wheel or the spokes. Have you had the tire off the new rim? just a thought maybe something is in there? Can you get it rolling it in the drive?
