The headlight will NEVER work with that much rake. They used to sell an adaptor ring for people who raked Shovelheads with FLH nacelles, but it was pretty goofy looking. They may have something similar for your setup. That much rake will almost certially require going to the Heritage/Fatboy style light if they don't have an adapter ring for the light.
bikerlaw - My bike is a Heritage, so as you said about requiring this type of light, I should be good. With Hawg Halter 4* or 6* raked tree, I should still be fine, don't you think? The problem, is getting the extra rake to reach my goal of 9*. Adding raked bearing cups spreads the tree, and I don't thing HH's trees allow for spreading and still work the way they intended. There in lies my dilema.
LOL, I will as soon as I figure out how to do this. The original question was how do I accomplish raking my bike 9* and still keep my nacelle and tins.
(A) HH's 4* or 6* trees will allow that.
(B) But I will loose my trail so I need to bring it back by raking the neck the remaining degrees to accomplish the goal of 9*
(C) I would prefer 3* raked bearings, but the trees won't allow this.
(D) I can't find anyone in Colorado to rake the neck.
This is why I started asking for help or ideas.
Well, headlight aside.... I think you probably could use 5 degree trees with 3 degree cups. What gives you pause to think they won't function together? People have posted doing such and I have seen bikes in the past set up that way although I do not know the make or brand of the trees they used. I wish I knew who to send you too but I'm no help. I do know that my local shop will rake a neck for 900 bucks. Less if the frame is already stripped down. Of course, thats a permanent mod and trees/cups are not. Either way, post up what you do. I dig choppers.
What makes me think they won't work together for mine is, once you use the cups you have to spread the tree to fit over the cups. After doing that, the tins on my bike won't work any more. That is the only reason. I am trying to keep the tins for a stock look while getting the rake. That is why I was thinking of raking the neck to get away from the cups. Does that make sense?
