Default Rocker or any bike wheel alignment question?

How does a Dealer align a motorcycle? On my Rocker I put two long bolts in the swing arm passenger foot peg mounting holes hooked a tape measure to the bolts and measured to the center of the back axle and set the measurements the same side to side. I think so far so good the tire is centered in the swing arm, but does the Dealer align the motorcycle off the front tire also so the front and back tire are aligned to one another? I do have a service manual but all it says for alignment is see the Dealer.

Any info would be appreciated

Thank you
Mark

Hi duluth,
here is a video, how you can do it at home, the dealers or wrencher mostly use a laser pointer.

Here's going to be your problem. The Rocker's rear wheel isn't supposed to be centered. It offsets to the right (looking at it from the rear).

Ok any idea how much the offset is? I really appreciate your input on this. I have it centered now but i do want it correct as the factory set it. I am going to ask the dealer but i don't think they will tell me

Thank you

I would imagine the process would be similar to other softails...the factory service manual for my '07 Fatboy says to measure the distance from the center of the swingarm pivot shaft to the center of the rear axle. Make sure both side are equal +/- 1/8".

I actually don't know the exact offset off the top of my head and I've already replaced the stock wheel with a wider one otherwise I'd measure it for you.

I've done my rocker a couple times now. I measured off of the swingarm pivot bolt. Never had an issue with it seeming to be off line with the front. The only problem with using the footpeg holes is that even though they appear to be the same, they may not actually be drilled 100% even on both sides.

I measured from the foot peg holes to the end of the swing arm on both sides first,it was the same on either side,so i assumed they were safe to use
