i'v only had my black Rush slips ons for a month before my girl melted her heel against it... some of the black coating has come off... is there any quick fix without having to put on a new exhaust? has anyone tried black grill paint?
Wow, that is surprising. I would have hoped it to be a bit more sturdy than that.
Yeah, I'm with Drew, whichever high temp exhaust paint you can get to match the current coating should be fine. We already know it doesn't stick too well.
There is apparently now a rattle can flat black ceramic coating, Saw it at the auto parts store the other day in the paint section. Haven't used it, but keepin it in the back of my head in case my black pipes need some touch up. Don't know if it's any good, but might be worth lookin into.

Use Silicone VHT. I painted my shields with this rattle can paint...over a year ago. Holds up very well. Follow instructions. Do not use grill paint .... will not hold up. You can buy flat black Silicone VHT paint at Autozone.
Make sure you heat soak.
The silicone base paint needs to be heat soaked at 400 deg F for 30 min or so to "set" the coating. I let it dry an hour or so....couple of thin coats ...then soak the part in an oven...if its exhaust ...I just ride it awhile.
