Default Need Clarification...

Can any softail part be put on a FatBoy Lo or are the softtail parts not interchangable? I'm new to the Harley world and I see all these parts but don't really know what fits what and what will interchange with what... can someone please clarify this for me? Thanks in advance.

Depends on the part I suppose.

What parts are you looking at?

If you have seen the part on a bike or in the HD parts book it will give you the model's it fits if not speak to your dealer .... that's all there is to it

like fenders for example... will a rocker C rear fender fit on a fat boy? or am I way off? I mean will strutless fenders fit on a strutted bike and vice versa? I really need to buy a service manual. I really don't have any friends that own Harley's and really don't hang with many people so I'm having to learn all this stuff by research and asking questions... I'm wanting to know what will fit what and so on. I own a Honda S2000 car and can basically tell you anything about that car and what goes where and what fits what but my new bike has me kind of lost...

Like mentioned above the HD parts catalog is a good reference but you can't always go by that. Some parts won't be listed for your bike but they will fit. Most of the time common sense will prevail. The guys here have done just about anything you can think of. Search and research will be your best friend. And if it don't bolt right up get creative and make it work. Just like on a car.

Example: I want a Shotgun Shock but the standard install will not work on my LO because the rear brake ABS is in the way of where the compressor goes. So I will fab up a bracket and mount the compressor on the swing arm and conceal it inside a modified Solo bag.

Some....like a Heritage mostly yes....others like a Rocker or a Springer no. You really need to buy a parts manual. They are cheap and you can buy one on fleaBay.
