I am going to order my pipes this week and still trying to decide between the 28's and the 33's. (no baffle)
I dig these, perfect length:
I was using these pics as a guide but the 28's are too short:
These 33's are too long:
I can't figure out what the deal is, the pic at the top shows the samsons being just about even with the rear fender, which is what I want. The other pics show 28's and 33's installed on the same bike. The 28's are short and the 33's are too long.
All these pics came off this site.
Anyone know what pipes are on the first bike? BTW- going on a 2004 fatboy with 2005 deluxe tins.

yeah the angle of the picture throws off the length sometimes. I just put 33's on my 97 heritage and the fishtail starts about at the rear of the back fender
Aquaelvis, the top shot are 28.5" longtails. On a Heritage, they extend about an inch past the rear fender. I assume about the same on a Deluxe. I have the 28.5's and I haven't had any issues with curbs yet (you have to be careful though).
Are you sure they're the Samsons and not the V&H True Duals? The angle of the picture throws it off, but they look very similar, but the Duals seem to sit in between the other pictures you've posted
The short ones are 28.5 and the longer are the 33"'s.
There are 3 pics. Have any idea what the top pic has?
Anyone know if the ones for the newer bikes are a bit longer. It seems the ones from 07 and newer with 28's seem a bit longer? Maybe?
Top (first) pic is perfect, exactly what I want. The one on the second pic (28's) is shorter than the one in the first pic. Any thoughts on why?
I actually think the middle pic is the old style that are 1 3/4" as opposed to the newer 2 1/4" as you can see where the fishtail is the pipe does not taper down. The top and bottom pics are 33"'s.
