So I have a 2005 Deluxe and it's got a set of V&H Longshot HS pipes on it with the Screamin' Eagle upgrade air filter kit. I bought it this way a little while back.
Not sure if it's got a fuel pak or power commander or whatever.
I'm looking for options as far as getting a little more kick from the throttle without breaking the bank.
I liked the HD-0800 K&N filter on my last bike, but I know it's not really much different than the Screamin Eagle filter on now, just better quality.
So my question is, could I do something else...like a Stage 2 air filter or something like that which will give me a bit of a kick in the throttle? Would a Stage 2 filter fit the same base/whatever that the Screamin Eagle one does now?
I don't need anything insane...but a little more power would be fun.
Ideas? Suggestions? thanks.

I doubt that you would see much (if any) difference switching out the SE A/C for a K&N (or other performance filter). If you're looking for more of a kick, getting your bike tuned might help. The Power Commander can be dialed in to your specific bike. It will give you a few more horsepower over a "canned" map. If you have a PC...
A cam upgrade will give you some more kick in the low end, but it may be a bit more than you planned on spending.
Ya, I wasn't thinking the K&N swap would do much difference, but I did like the quality of the K&N I had before so I was more or less just looking to switch it out for that reason, but I wasn't sure if before doing that it might be better to try the 20% larger K&N filter (if it fits) and doing something like you suggest such as having a Power Commander added with a dynotune...

If you are not sure if you've got a fuel pak or power commander or whatever, you need to remove the seat and have a good look.
There is no such thing as a Stage 2 air filter, the Stage 2 kit includes a Stage 1 air filter.
You can get a K&N filter for you Stage 1 backing plate for about 40.00, it is a good option IMHO.
Then contact the Fuel Moto people and get you bad self a Power Commander and have fun.
Find a good indy tuner in your area and have it dyno'd. He'll probobly make some suggestions on what he thinks you should be running.
Ya I think I'll probably just go ahead and do that. There's a performance shop in the area that I've heard good things about. I think I'll just let them take a look at it and give me some recommendations.
