Hey guys new to the forum and have a question maybe some of you might can shed some light. I have a mostly stock 97 Heritage Classic. Vance and Hines longshots K&N air filter. Other than that all stock 1340 EVO. The bike runs great but lacks giddy up. Seems to be geared to low or something. Tachs up very quick and goes through all five gears real fast. Is this common to the bike or the EVO. Is it the pulley, the ignition, the tranny? Just got the bike this summer. Love it but wish it had a little more throw me back in my seat off the red light know what I mean?
keep in mind that this is a 700lb. cruiser, not a CBR900. I'm guessing if your lookin' for more power, you'll have to dump some cash in the motor. I have a Twin Cam Heritage, and I do run up through the gears fairly quick. They are what they are, not torque or HP monsters, just cruisers. Enjoy the bike and the forum...welcome aboard.
Scrawford has it right. What you have is a cruiser.
My '97 likes 45-75MPH as it's comfort zone. Plenty of torque getting there and responsive enough for me with just a stage 1 but buzzy above 80. Mine will do 100+Mph but takes a while to roll there. Not a 0-60 speed demon by anyones estimation. Will cost you plenty to squeeze 10-15 HP more out of a stock EVO and get to a stage 3 mod in my experience.
