Hello, I'm lookin to purchase my first Harley and would like to ask for some help in deciding what price a certain bike I'm looking at would be worth.
The bike is an '01 soft tail but I don't know much else about these bikes and just want to make sure I pay a fair price. Bike has very low mileage, under 3K miles and is in perfect condition with many upgrades from what I'm told.
Links to some pictures below.
Appreciate any help and hope to be part of the forum soon
It's a buyer's market. If you're not an experienced biker, when you go look at it, take someone with you who is.The bike is 10 years old so start low, like 5K and go from there. You may be able to get a value at kbb.com or similiar site but that value will be too high.Have you rode the bike? Listen for sounds and noises coming from the engine. Did the owner ride it lately? With mileage that low,did they keep some sort of stabilizer in the fuel tank? Does he have maintenance logs/receipts? Not that he would have alot with the mileage that low. Nice looking bike but have him throw in the John Deere lawn tractor with the sale.
An 01' in mint condition lists for a little over 8 grand. He's got a stretched tank, carlini bars, seat & lots of chrome. I bet he's looking for at least $9000. Thats a nice ride though.
I think I would pay $9K for that bike. With 3K on the clock and the nice paint and tank, as long as the vin checks out and it is not just a cobbled together bike that is.
He tells me the local Harley dealer said if he priced it at $12k he would sell it. It is a very clean bike and very well maintained. The owner has 3 Harleys, all purchased new and only rides around the neighborhood or to the local dealer gatherings. It fires right up without any weird noises that I can tell. He says he can show me the original receipt and said he paid $27K with all the upgrades . The uprades must have been done by the dealer because he says he purchased it that way.
What is the name of this model bike? All I know is it's a soft-tail.

Offer him $8500. Be prepared to walk away. If you really love it give him $9000. You can by way newer for $9000.
This is all true. But even though it's a 2001 it's only got 3k on it. It's still a twin cam. You could get a newer bike for the same money but it would probably have more miles and none of those extras. It's a good bike that would last for years to come and looks great. So it relly comes down to how bad do you want it.
