I have a 2010 HD Fat Boy Lo and I just installed American Custom exhaust slip-ons and replaced my stock filter far a K&N filter. The filter is just an Orm replacement and fits the standard HD air cleaner football. My question is, do I need to install a computer or get the engine carbs rejetted or can I leave the bike as is with what I installed and ride with no problems?
The big question is, how does it run now as compared to before the changes. When I swapped out my stock mufflers for AC slipons, the bike (09 Road King) had a new noticeable "pop" almost like the beginnings of a backfire during decel. I didn't notice any change in MPG. This led me to believe it was running a bit to lean. I bought a V&H Fuelpak, got in touch with the V&H factory (really good customer service) and they suggested a map for just changing the pipes, without the air filter.
Long story short, the bike runs great. No more decel pop and a slight reduction in MPG (running richer now). If the bike runs correctly, I'd leave it alone, if not I'd explore options.
Well first of all...you don't have a carb on that bike. So no need to rejet anything. The only thing left for you to do is add some fuel management. By adding the new K&N, you added more air to the mixture. So now your bike is running even leaner than it did from the factory. The computer will compensate for a little of that, but you should seriously consider adding some sort of fuel management to add some fuel back into the mix and cool down the bike a little. It'll also give you some more power. You can do the V&H FuelPak or a PC. If you're not doing any further engine mods, the FuelPak will do what you need. It's what I use on my bikes. Good luck and nice choice of bikes!
Well thanks for the info, so basically I need to remap and get a fuelpak. Another question that I have is if I left the stock HD filter in and ran the AC slip-ons would I also need to get the fuelpak? I have heard and read if you change either the exhaust or the filter you don't need to do anything, if you change both the exhaust and the filter you need to remap, rejett, or change something?

You don't need to remap if you get the fuelpak. You need one or the other. You also don't need the fuelpak if you just do the pipes. More air = need for more fuel.
Thanks for all the info! And no I just bought a replacement K&N air filter that fits my stock air box. I will have to decide on keeping the original air filter or buying the fuelpak.
-thanks
