Thats what I would have suggested, my brother in law got tapped in the rear end (hehehe) last year and his insurance bought new tins and all, then when he went to put the bike back together he noticed that his frame was bent in the same spot as your wifes. So his insurance took the frame and sent it to harley and they got him a new one with the same vin stamped on the neck.
Well Insurance did total the bike, Looked further and swing arm was bent as well. I wanted to by it back but the want 5k. I went ahead and let them have it.
Bought a 2007 Deluxe with bags, pipes, stage one and lots of chrome. Wife is happy and back up riding.
