Default Tank Switch

Hey guys. Looking for advice or tips. I picked up a like new set of tins at a swap meet at Carlisle PA show. I have searched the forum, web, youtube, and have a manual (manual only covers carb tanks). Using the manual and writetups from the board I installed my apes this winter.

I am looking for advice for those who have swapped there fuel tanks.

2001 FLSTFI (the thought of f*** up the fuel pump is what has me most concerned--also not sure how to take off fuel disconnect fitting inside tank)

Thanks,

I believe it's a cam lock sort of deal. Like an air hose fitting. You pull up or down on a collar and separate the line from the tank.

The connector comes off easy with minimal gas leak. What I am talking about is the fitting that is inside the tank (what the external line connects to). Pretty sure it connects to the fuel pump. Looks like the hole for it is threaded. Wondering if I need to use plumbers tape or does it have some type of O-ring?

Yep ist a sweet set up. They did it right using a qiuck coupler. Pretty easy job. Hardest pars is removing the cross over hose. I recomend installing a longer cross over hose incase you want to install apes in the future or do a tank lift.

There is a o-ring there, the trick is the disconnect the hose inside the tank at the fuel pump, then remove the female end of the quick disconnect.

Check the condition of the inner o-ring inside the female end of the quick disconnect, this is the primary source for leaks in older EFI machines.

I'm thinking of a complete new set of tins for this winter and I'm considering filling the new tank with it's own fuel pump system, so I don't have to move them from one tank to the other of I want to switch back to stock.

Haven't found a writeup on this yet (tell me if I missed it). May be a good one to do. If I could just get someone to hold the dang camera.
