Fuel Line Leaking
I have 2 fuel lines leaking on my 01 RK Classic and need help with how to properly drain the gas tank and how best to get to the fuel lines under the tank, hopefully without removing the whole tank.

If you have the service manual it will take you through that step by step. It is a GOOD investment. On my 02 FLHR there is a vacuum petcock. Take the fuel line loose at the carb and position something to catch the fuel. Remove the vacuum line from the petcock and apply a vacuum pump to open the petcock. The fuel should drain. If you are replacing the line from the petcock to the carb all you need to do is turn the fuel off at the petcock. If you are replacing the crossover I think you need to drain the tank. You shouldn't have to remove the tank. Hope it helps.

Ditto on the service manual; since you have to dis-connect the cross-over tube to drain the tank, you may as well go ahead and remove it. It's really not that much of a job. BTW, make sure both of your fuel lines are properly seated in the tank fittings before you tear into it. There's always a chance that that is the only thing wrong.
