Default SE Pro "Torque" slip-ons?

I'm trying to learn about these slip-ons, but have yet to find anyone that has used or heard them. Are they loud compared to stock or SE II slip-ons? What performance increase do they offer? I like the idea that they are same appearance as the stock pipes, but don't want to drop money on a muffler that doesn't give good performance or sounds like crap. HD part #80388-01

I am hoping to find out soon due to info that HD will not sell Pro slip-ons next month.

Appreciate your replies.

Flying Pilgram, Everyones idea of "loud" is different as is everyones idea of "good performance". The best advice I can give you is go to your dealer and ask him if they have a set installed on a bike in the shop that you can hear, or you can attend any gathering where there are alot of bikes. Walk around looking at bikes with the exhaust that interests you. Ask the bike owner to start the bike up so you can hear the sound yourself. Ask him if he noticed the performance gains after installing them. Most people are more than willing to take a few minutes to answer your questions. Dont forget what ever changes you make will require tweeking of your ECM. Pipes alone wont give you alot of performance gains without changing your stock air filter and recalibration of your ECM. The idea is to move large amounts of air/fuel into and then out of the engine as quickly as possible , thats performance..................BG

Sound advice, but I have yet to see these particular pipes on any bike yet. Unfortunately, since they won't be available for long, I was kind of hoping someone here may have had some experience with them. Thanks for response.

G'day from Australia, The torque mufflers are great, the longer baffling and the small washer, (with a hole in the middle), gives about a 20% noise reduction over the slash cut pro mufflers, bottom end and mid range are the same, (or better than SEII), but top end would obvoiusly suffer, but who rides at redline nowdays, maybe sometimes... part no.80061-00 are still in Ozzie stores as most of us have not been told about the finishing of SE race parts, it will filter through to Oz eventually. Great websites like this are are only form of advice and help we have. I beleive the current slip-ons still fit the '06 models. cya.

Pilgrim, I've tried several different sets of slip-ons so I can probably give you some comparisons. I just don't like loud pipes but wanted better performance out of my Softail so I decided to try some slip-ons. Khrome Werks slip-ons are highly recommended; they look great, are high-quality construction, but were just too loud for me at any speed. The SE slip-ons were quieter but were still a little rowdy. I then tried the SE torque slip-ons and they were the mildest of the bunch. As an added bonus they also had the deepest, best-sounding tone of any slip-ons I've heard. Friends who heard them all loved the sound. Just for comparison I took them off and replaced them with the stockers; I'm gonna stick with the stock exhaust and sell the torques. Don't let my choice sway you--I'm just super-sensitive to the noise. If you want performance and a mild but muscular tone you might want to try the Torque slip-ons.

I've also been searching for info on the SE Torque mufflers. Like others, I'm wanting more rumble without angering the neighborhood.

Dealer told me that they wouldn't be any louder than the stock mufflers. Sounds like I've been misinformed?

Hey, Reverendbiker. Since you've heard stock, SE Torque, and SEII slipons, where would you rate the Torques between the stock and SEII mufflers when it comes to loudness?

Thanks.

The SE torque mufflers are definitely louder that the stockers. They do, however, have a really nice low tone that is much more pleasing (to me, at least) than the SEII slip-ons. The SEII's are also a bit louder than are the SE torques. The Khrome Werks slip-ons are louder than either of the SE's. Hope that helps.

Reverend, thanks for the info. It sounds like it may be just what I'm looking for. Did you notice any "seat of the pants" difference in either accelleration or top end power? I wouldn't think they would be much different than stock, but worth asking. Appreciate your input.
