Hello guys. I changed the oil in my engine and primary. I used Amsoil 20/50. I know this sounds weird, but the engine seems to be noisier and my shifting is sluggish, while sounding like someone is taking a ball peen hammer to the case each time it shifts. I'm scared to ride it!
I put one bottle of oil in the primary and filled the engine up until it read "full-hot" on the dipstick.
Any advice or help from someone that has experienced this would be greatly appreciated.
What kind of oil did you have on the engine before the switch? I'm guessing not a 20/50 synthetic engine oil. With the warm weather and better flowing synthetic oil you may hear all kinds of new sound effects coming from your engine.
Same question for what was in the primary before the switch? I'm guessing not a 20/50 synthetic engine oil. If that's the case, the first step should be to adjust your clutch, that thing inside the primary. Plenty of good videos in the web on how to do this.
Finally, when was the last time you changed the transmission oil?
I tried some bel-ray once,, it made her really stiff shifting on the first dozen or so miles if the temp was below 70, the colder the longer, then she'd free up when she got hot.
Thanks for the replies guys. I bought the bike used, so I really don't know what was in the primary or engine. I did not change the transmission oil yet.
