Default high alt. brake follow up

Well after doing some research on Dot 5 Silicone brake fluid, I decided to go ahead and bleed my brakes up here at 10,000 feet. If you missed my other post problem was i came from sea level with rock hard perfect brakes and up here they were spongy as hell. Well sure enough there was a significant amount of air in both front and rear. After the bleed both are rock hard again. My take on it is that first of all Im up at 10,000 feet and not just for the day, this is where we live. We came from sea level where i bought the bike . Everything Ive read on Dot 5 silicone has said that it is sensative to barometric changes. And has the ability to keep tiny molecules of air in its suspension that could pose a problem at high altitude. Anyway for you day trippers or flatlanders coming up for the day or even a week dont worry youll be fine. But for anyone bringing a bike up for good from the flats do yourself a favor and bleed em up at altitude. Also note that ive only had this happen with the Dot5 silicone. Not Dot 3 or 4

I'm heading up to 8000 feet next week. I was just up at about 10000 feet last month. I ruin DOT 5 and had no issues at 10000 feet. I live right at sea level too. I guess my brakes have been bled properly.

Thanks for the info and I am sure this will help someone somewhere.

Drew
