Default Fatboy seat question

This may have been covered, but I searched it and couldn't find an answer. I have a new to me '05 Fatboy I want to mount a solo seat and pillion pad on. There is no saet mounting hole between the front tab slot, and the threaded hole in the rear. No hole, no plug no nothing. My 1200 custom had a plugged hole half way back. I've seen solo's on fatboys, how do they mount them ?

You need to remove the plastic cover that has the HD Logo and get the HD Fender/Seat Nut Kit Part # 59768-97.

Using a length of string with a weight at one end that will fit through the hole drop it down...I use a small Brad or finishing nail. Fit the seat nut over the nail and pull it up until it fits in the hole and and install the plastic C Clip included in the kit.

Remove string and nail and hang on the wall for future use.

Now install your new Solo Seat.

Problem is there is no hole with a plastic cover. Just a smooth fender covered with that clear plastic protective cover.

My bad.....Solo Softail seats mount using two bolts on either side of the frame at the bottom of the seat pan....Chrome 5/16 Allen Head as I recall.

Note above the Oil Tank the hole for the Bolt while test fitting this seat.

Then again maybe 05 is totally different.

They're not all the same. some bolts, some have Nuts

Our 07 the front of the front seat slips in the tunnel slot. The rear of the front seat then has a bracket that has two holes that goes over the two bolts that sticks up from the rear fender.
Then there's two nuts that has a knurled 1/4 or so flat at the top of them to grip when U tighten or loosen it that goes on the back of the front seat that holds it down..

Thsoe nuts are machined down in the middle to a smaller dia. so the front brackets on
the rear pillion can slid into them.
The brackets on the front of the pillion looks like two little horse shoes that then slide in the slots of the two Nuts.
Then the pillion has a bolt at the rear that hold the pillions seat down and in place.

I pretty sure the 05 are different because the seats are not interchangeable.

The 00-06 front or solo seats mount on the side of the frame with bolts.
