Thanks, any idea where they sell that Never Dull polish? I suspect it's a lot cheaper than anything the dealer sells. Now all I need to do is replace my wife's new $120 boots she ruined yesterday. I guess the ultimate fix to keep it from happening again is 2 into 1 pipes. Anyone know who makes a good set that works with the 2007 Deluxe. I know there's been a problem getting after market pipes for the 2007s. I've also seen some bad comments re Vance & Hines pipes recently so I'm a little leary of them. Was looking thru the catalog and noticed a lot of Softail models have that one above and one below the rear peg design. What was HD thinking?
Well no one told me you had to be a gazillionaire to own a Harley. I just ordered a set of V & H staggered bigshots for my Deluxe. There was a bike out back at the dealer with them on and they sounded awsome. Plus they solve the boot problem since they run both pipes below the rear peg. It was either V & H bigshots or Thunderhead 2 into 1s. The Thunderheads were ridiculously expensive plus I don't care for that look on a Deluxe. So now I have to pay for the pipes, the installation, the remap of the ECM. I guess my wife's boots were the cheapest part of this goat rodeo. At least I should get a few more HPs out of it.
I have the pivit covers & passenger floor brds on my heritage. What I did was,I took the HD pivit covers off and had them milled out for the additional passenger bracket, if you know somebody that does this ,it won't be that the hard to do , otherwise take it to a machine shop , they will maybe only chg you a 20 dollars or less ( cut about a 3/16 " deep, mark out for bracket ,maybe 1/3 way around ) covers will clear the foot brd brackets you will still able to fix it to the pivit nut
I was concerned about that before I bought my 07 Deluxe. I contacted V & H (I had then on my Sporty and loved them) and asked how their pipes would work on the 07 Deluxe. Here is his response (quoted from his reply to me):
Unfortunately, the right foot peg is in a strategically poor location. When the pipes were developed, keeping in mind the visual lines of the bike and cornering clearance, the right foot peg needed to be relocated. Additionally, since the foot peg is mounted to the factory exhaust bracket, when the factory bracket is removed, the right foot peg needed a new source for mounting. With our exhaust systems for the new Softails, we provide a bolt and spacer for the re-location of the foot peg into the frame. The only way to maintain the stock location of the foot peg, is to keep the factory exhaust.
He also sent me some pics, in a second email, of his Manager's bike (07 Deluxe) that they were trying the pipes out on. Both emails within a couple of hours of me asking!

OK, trying to post the V&H pics of the Manager's bike. (My first time to posts pics -- hope I didn't make them too small.) The first to are of his mgr's bike and the third is from the V&H website. Here's what he said in the email about the pics:
Here are some shots of my Managerâs bike. Due to pipe testing on this particular bike, the passenger foot peg isnât on the bike in all the photos. Hope this can help you with your decision!
