REQ: suggestions for a way forward: SERT on ECM but no interface/software/cables
I purchased my '03 Heritage used several years ago. Earlier this year I found the dealer that sold the bike new and had them check over their service records for the bike. One of their records shows that the the original owner had a SERT install done. I asked if they had record of what mod/map was done to the ECM. The dealer searched but unfortunately they could not find specific records for the SERT work, only the work order showing than one was installed. When I purchased the bike I did not get the SERT software of interface/cables. I have been told the local HD dealer service dept that they cannot read the ECM to determine specifically what modifications/map is loaded. They also said that the ECM will display a record of SERT install even if the ECM had been re-flashed to stock.
The bike ran great, but I recently switched to a 2-1 exhaust and plan to do cams and begin building a 95 over the winter so I will need the ability interface with the ECM. In order to continue using SERT, will I need to purchase a new SERT because I do not have the interface, cables, or software? At this point I am considering just having the ECM flashed back to stock and using a Power Commander. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
