well the best thing harley did was drop the lines that do not sell.i have a xbones and they discounted the bike 5g cuz nobody would but them .i did and converted to heritage fatbones.the rocker is one ugly bike period .by dropping them it makes them unique as the number of bikes made is limited..
now for marketing purposes dropping the lines and creating new ones keeps the passion alive ..we dont trade in our bikes becuase they are worn out we trade them becuase of new options, styling or like the 2012 models that just went to 103" engines .good reason to upgrade or trade in.?
i bet the springer is back as a heritage style or classic ? for next year.just wait for 2013 harley is 110 years old..im thinking 110" engines for anniversary bikes
just my .02

IMO its to bad they dropped the Cross bones, I like a springer and would buy one if I had the exrta $, No loss IMO on the Rocker, I never liked the look or ride, they were a custom that did not really make the cut.
I would keep both models but would launch re-releases on them. The Crossbones was pretty solid the way it was so I'd only make minor tweaks. Now the Rocker on the other hand was a sweet bike, but if I was HD, I would have not killed that concept. I would have made it better and formed the Rocker into being more of a custom bike. As much as the Rocker got bashed, it is a good bike and has a lot of good qualities about it. HD really needed to focus on pulling out the qualities instead of taking the cookie cutter path.
PS. I am willing to bet they launch a Springer model later in the year....
i would vote keep them both, then actually make the bikes look even cooler by adding options . example offer heartland kit, offer spring seat kits, matching rotors for rocker
( i mean c'mon not even a matching rotor? wtf? etc. etc. it seems the moco
just didnt make enough parts for rocker more so than xbones but by offering more kewl stuff could have kept sales going , how bout offering bikes w/ an air kit? that would be kewl too. oh well another day another 4 & 1/2 cents
i like em both, call me one of the odd ***** but i have always liked the rocker, but when i seen it for the first time was with a heartland kit and then saw the stock set-up. altho i love the heartland set-up the stock always drew my eye because it was not the same as every other softail rear end, not that it really matters how they put it out we will always modify it to be differant.
Need a springer in the lineup. I thought they would try a dark rocker before letting it go as the blacked out ones look cool. Its odd that Harley has all this dark custom clothing they are pushing while killing the train and bones. Dark custom clothes must sell better than dark bikes!
