Default To customize or not to customize?

Hey guys

Gettin a Fat Boy next year and I can't decide if I'll customize it or keep it standard. My current bike is standard, but I wanna put a bobtail fender on next years bike. I've seen a couple of guys on here with them and I like em. While I'm getting that I might as well respray it too either cobalt blue or candy apple red. But I love the look of stock ones and don't wanna regret doing it.

I know no one will have any answers for me, I just wanted to vent my dilemma lol

If you're the type to trade them off after a few years, I'd keep it close to stock.

Thanks man. I don't know what I'm gonna do, I could keep this fat boy for 30 years (if it still runs lol) or I might keep it for 5 years. I might not paint it, but I can put a bobtail on it cos that's only a few bolts. I dunno, but I've got all the time in the world to figure it out

Go ahead and customize it dude. You already own a Harley so you know what it feels like when that bug gets you. A bobtail fender would look great. As for a respray, I got my tins powdercoated for $300 total. Just see what happens when you get it.

I have seen a guy with my same bike without any mods.. to be honest, for the money and effort, I would leave it stock.. but it was fun in the process.
So.. I am neutral.

If it makes it run better or more comfortable, do it. Beyond cleaning up the wiring on handlebars and maybe losing the football, I would leave it alone. Personally, my funding is limited, so I choose to spend my money on gas, oil and tires. I would rather ride mine than look at it.

I would do the exhaust and then the little stuff like grips, pegs, axle covers etc. Then leave it alone for a little while. You may go into the next winter and want to move over to a bagger or a different route with your bike completely.
