I'm looking at getting an Air intake for my bike. I like the Vance and Hines skull cap and Duke for there VO2 A/C system.
I'm cautious though, cause the intakes are open, what happens if I get caught in the rain, or it rains on my bike while I'm at work? Is this something I should be worried about?
Speaking for me i have a DM custom cycle intake and have ridden 1000's of miles in heavy rain and storms and never had one problem bike kept going didn't miss a beat ....
I guess I'm just freaked out cause of the horror stories I hear about cars hydro locking when it flash floods here. That's usually due to irresponsible driving when there is standing water from the flash flood and also from the guys that have the cold air intakes.
you might ask V&H if they sell a rain sock, I know RSD does and there's even an HD one that might fit. I've had the RSD one, but its squirelly to get on right, and I've never had a prob so I'm leaving it off.
Hydro locking happens when you suck a TON of water into your intake, such as when a car with a CAI drives into a puddle that submerges its intake completely.
A tiny bit of water possibly getting into your intake (like a few drops) won't hurt you, it will vaporize the moment it gets blown into the hot cylinder.
