For the deuce, above all other Harleys, I think that bike looks really sharp with a side mounted plate on the axle or swingarm. That bike is meant to look very custom. If it were my deuce, that would be one of the first mods I'd do to get the plate off the fender entirely.. but that's just me.. it's all personal taste.. but I do think any number of the styles for side-mounted plates would look killer on a deuce. my humble opinion. Although you'd run into problems with saddlebags.
Didja have to have the fender off to remove the license plate bracket? I just took out the screws that hold it on, but it's still connected somehow - maybe the wiring harness for the tail lamp? Didn't want to put a lot of muscle into the pulling-off operation, but it sure seemed something else was holding it on pretty solidly.
Yeah, a little clarifiation from someone who's done this before would be nice. I tried the same thing and looks like the licsense plate lamp assembly is still attached somehow. Didn't see any screws though that would be holding it on.
