I added some v&h big shots to my 05 carbed heritage. When I bought it from the previous owner he said it had a Carb kit installed but I can't be sure. I pulled the plugs and the front looked great but the rear was lean. It was white. Do I need to go into the Carb or start by turning the mixture screw out some more? I'm not sure with 1 being good and 1 lean.
I would re-tune the carb (idle mixture and Idle), then install a fresh set of plugs and put a few miles on the bike. This will give you Known Baseline Information.
Both Plugs should look pretty much identical. If one looks different from the other, the Carburetor is NOT the problem. This is because the Carburetor treats both Cylinders equally. You are looking at an Intake Manifold leak if it's a mixture problem or a Cylinder (Rings, Guides or Guide Seals) issue if it's not fuel related.
It had se slip ons and a high flow airfilter. the dealer confirmed the air filter and said it should have had Carb work done. The mixture plug has been removed but otherwise I don't know. The bike runs great.
