Have an 01 Heritage Softail...the wife likes riding, but the factory passenger pillion just ain't gonna cut it. The support of the touring bikes' passenger seat and backrest (with armrests, too!) looks appealing, but I don't see anything like that for the softail...or am I not looking in the right places? Anybody got some suggestions for better passenger seating that INCLUDES some kind of armrests or grab handles? I like to take the curves a little too fast to suit her and the sound of the footboards scraping really makes her nervous. I think she would feel more secure if she had a better handle than my "love handles".
Subscribed - I'd like to see the answers to this - got a young daughter that I'll want to give a ride to eventually, and I'd feel better having something for her to hang onto.
I put the HD Heritage touring seat on mine. It is about 14" wide. Also there is an attachment called "love handles" that attaches to the back rest and provides arm rests for the passenger. They swivel out for easy getting on and off. A friend of mine has them on his Yamaha and his wife loves them. Google motorcycle love handles and you should find them. I thinkthey also advertise in American Iron mag.
HD Sundowner - you and her will be much more comfortable. Lowers you and sits you back. Not too expensive new and can be found used often. Put the smooth touring back rest on also. Has curve to it and is wide. No experience with arm rests.
You could go the tourpak route and add the trunk and backrest to whatever seat you want. Use Quick disconnect brackets and it can come off and hang on the wall when you don't need it.
in the J&P cycle catalog try the "Love Handles for Harley" plan #830-838 for 329.99 or with fringe and studded #830-844 $379.99
I like the idea of the tour pack best, but what I shwed you here are arm rest that attach to your stock sissy bar
I had to laugh at this....I began searching for "Love Handles for Harley" using Google and found my own post in this forum as the 11th result. Talk about going in circles...
Haven't been able to find any comments from actual users of the "Love Handles"...and they are a lil spendy. Also, I have the HD sissy bar LED brake/running light installed...need to figure out if I will have to lose that to install the love handles.
