I was the same way... Stressed! These bikes are BIG!
Just take your time, find a mellow area. Practice your braking, I had a hard time getting used to hard braking. Try to stay away from turns and keep your speed down.
Also, keep in mind how heavy these are and if you are not careful they can fall over. Watch yourself when you stop or back up. Once it starts to go over it is hard to save it.
Thanks guys. Now, where the hell do I begin? Any recommendations/tips on getting comfortable with the baby? Obviously Im not taking her out on the highway in rush hour tomorrow. but was seriously thinking about messing around in a parking lot or similiar for an hour or two...
DO NOT RIDE BEYOND YOUR LIMITS!! And know what your limits are.
I did the same thing. My Lo was my first scoot. I did the parking lot thing a good bit to work on slow speed maneuvers and handling......and I still do from time to time. And the first few rides I did were not long rides at all, maybe 30 miles or so on roads that I felt comfortable on.
Don't let other motorists control your riding. Its your *** and your life. If they don't like your pace, they can pass you. Otherwise, they just need to settle down cause it won't be long and you'll be the one riding there *** and giving them the finger to get the hell out of your way!
Congrats on the bike. And just remember, the bike is the down-payment on the accessories. So you better put Drew's number in your speed dial list!
Very nice bike. The Deluxe is my favorite Softtail. Well, the Springers are nice too. Ride safe and know your limitations. 40 years in the saddle and I still have much to learn.
Congrats on ur new toy...let the modding begin. I just started on mine, and trust me people are not joking when they say its not cheap. Have fun, ride safe and enjoy.
