Default My head hurts - Trailer Q

My wife and I both have softails.. and she decided she wants to do a trip to florida this winter.. riding there is not a option, looking at enclosed trailers. I can get a decent price on a flat nose enclosed trailer..

Ive read a lot of the forum posts, and seems to be a split on wether a 6x12 enclosed trailer will do the trick. I dont care if they are staggered or side by side, one front one facing back... Just want the bikes to get loaded up and get there safely.

Anybody have any experiences they can share? Not interested in spending money just to get a large trailer, just want something that will work for the occasional trip. Also be able to use it for other tasks around the house.

Thanks for your replys..

trailer? i think my boat is sitting on one, i can go check the size if you want.
Never seen a use for a trailer when the bike has an engine that gets it down the highway just fine.

I have a 7x12 V nose trailer.

If I really squeeze it, I can fit two bikes side by side in it. I have heard most people say a 7x14 is minimum to fit 2 bikes staggered without issues but can't verify it.

I know, personally, I would not try to load a bike into a trailer backwards....that would be way too difficult to try to back it up the trailer. JMO

7x12 is a good size.I run two softails in mine staggard with room to spare for lots of other stuff.Get one with a side door up front some where,it makes getting around much easier. I've had several different ones over the years and like my current one the best. It's a Haulmart Lo Hauler .Tandem axle on torsion bars will give you a very stable ride. You pretty much get what you pay for with these things.Lots of good used deals out there also now.
Stagger your bikes Fat Boy and you'll be able to walk in between them

I used to own a kendon trailer(double) that fit a touring bike and a v=rod that my wife and I trailered to our home in florida from Pa. We decided that the 22 hour drive was a bit weary after doing it for 6 years we sold the trailer. The trailer was well worth the money and it could be stored upright in our garage since they did not allow trailers in our development. Good luck

probably should give them a skateboard or something, little legs might not hold up to long. LOL!

?. Why would a trip on the bikes from Nashville Tn to FL be out of the Question.

Just wondering, its what,? 650 miles.

They (Bikes) would be just warming up. Even if U only do 400 a day U'll make it in a day and a half
Weather in Tn is usually a little better than here in IND, but I know mid winter ain't always good.

Not to step on toes, or flame Ya, but U didn't elaborate on, (Its out of the question). Just wondering why?

U'd could have a great trip.

I currently have a 7x14 haulmark lowhauler and love it. have had my nightrain, my bros deuce and my buddies wide glide in there. i used to have a small 6x10 and have hauled my train and my bros old low rider. a 6x12, 7x12 should be fine for you. the wider the better. just remember its all about being set up correctly with the tie downs. i installed e tracks so i have as much adjustability as possible for tiie downs.
