Don't over look the SE 204's, for Ur style of ridding either, they have a really good lope and come on about 2500.

The 211's make a little better HP in the higher rpms' but they need a bump in compression to really shine.

Cams are interesting topic as always.
They are also funny in the way that it is very hard to find someone who tried different cams on the same bike, so everybody is usually happy with what they got.
Also note, the HP numbers for those Cams if you look at the power charts come only after 4000 RPM somewhere where most of us do not live ..
You want most of your power between 2000-4000, and this does not give you bragging rights, so your bike is quicker but shows maybe 10HP on the dyno less than the 'bragging' guys. who show numbers they rarely use or see.

alas.

I followed my Mechanic advice for my bike (it is light) and went with the 37N cam as you can see as well, I did convert to Hydraulic and this is why I changed the cam.

So, if you are rebuilding , I hope you are changing the Cam Chain tensioner for your own sake.

Regards

Mike: yes it is a factory kit with flat top pistons, Stock heads will have 9.6:1 and if I did do heads depending on the deck height and mill 10.5:1 is easily done. KLF33... I am getting the 37B cams with the upgraded tensioners from Harley, I was looking into the TW50 but all the power is made up top which isn't my riding style. I think those cams will make me very happy.

I have to admit, I don't know much about cams, but many folks I have talked to have been disappointed with cams that close on the intake much above 40.

Ok, the only thing I will tell you is that the stock heads aren't always exact and although they may be advertised as certain CC, when they are actually CC'd they are most always off.

My front and back heads were cut differently to achieve the 9.8-1

Just something to think about...

Good luck !!!

Mike

It all depends on the total combination of the bike. My cams close at 50* ABDC and I have 100+TQ from 2400rpm through 6500rpm, and above 120TQ from 3500rpm through 5250rpm...

With 37's, .030" gasket, and flat top's, you might get 9.4:1 static with stock heads. Granted Big Boyz calculator isn't dead nutz accurate, but it will get you pretty close.

It all depends on where you want the power coming in. If you ride in the upper RPM range, then you want a later closing intake. Course that means shifting a whole bunch more to keep it there.
