I have 53k on my '06 Heritage and have only worn off 4 sets of tires and 2 sets of brakes and nothing mechanical. I think I need to upgrade my seat however...

why would u want to down grade to a softail in terms of ride comfort and performance? Or that has been my experience.

I purchased a 2010 heritage after owning a 2009 Street Glide. I had ridden my wife's 2009 heritage and like it so much I got my own. Nice and quiet engine, lost the vibration of the rubber mounted motor, and has plenty of power. The bags and windshield makes it a great cruiser. Try it , you'll like it...

not wanting to downgrade just a new and different ride. i have always like the looks of the heritage kinda the ol'school look. doesnt weight as much as my ol dresser, so i can put a bad *** 95 or 103 depending on what year i get!

Like everything else it's a personal deal - I had an '07 Deluxe, sold it and bought an '09 Electra Glide, sold it and bought an '11 Heritage. Of course the Deluxe and Heritage are almost the same bike, but for whatever reason (again personal) I like the Heritage best of the three by far. To be fair, part of the reason is I'm about 5'8' with short legs, and the seat height of the softails just fits me better. I didn't dislike the FLHTC, but for me it was top heavy -though the storage space was really handy. I got a super reduced reach seat (for sale, BTW), and that helped, but I just never could get into the 'Glide - great bike, just not for me.

The first six speeds 2007-2009 had a straight cut 5th gear. They made a howl when riding in 5th.

2010 and up has a helical cut gear and don't make noise.

I fixed the 5th speed noise problem on my 09 by putting on loud pipes. Don't hear it anymore.

Default Ultra to Heritage

I traded my 07 Ultra for a 09 Heritage. The Ultra was crap, pimged and was extremely hot. The Heritage fits me better and went cross country 2 summers ago and was pure enjoyment (except for the rain). The dealer had installed a stage one and rush slipons before putting it on the floor. I have added a PC V and she just purrs. I do concurr with a previous poster on here, I did install a "saggy bags" it in the saddle bags. This 'Vegas sun can be quite brutal on leather. So hope this helps with your decision.

I love my 2012.. Took the heel shifter off and rolled the handlebars back a little.. Other than that it's awesome.. The wife says it very comfy..
