Mine is actually similar to the one above, but mine is made from 2 pieces. There's a steel plate behind the license (cut from a bunch of heavy shelves I have), and a piece of angle iron for the bent portion. I used a belt-guard attachment to bolt it to the swing arm. Simple and clean. Most of my time was spent 'cleaning' the steel for painting. I also added a black plate frame to finish it off.
*Wow! I just looked, and the one above is $40+!! This is why I ended up making my own. I just can't see paying someone 40 bucks for a bent piece of steel. There are many things I prefer to 'pay' someone for their engineering and design, but a piece of steel bent 90 degrees isn't one of them! That's as bad as Exile Cycles asking $400 for a freakin' front fender that's about as small as they get! Speaking of which, I finally made my stock front fender fit with my 16 fat front tire [sm=shades.gif]. It's not perfect- it sits a bit high- but it looks okay for now, and should keep some road spray down. Pics will come soon.
ratzila, my bike wasn't lowered. It's stock height. I was worried about the same thing, but it looks cool showing all that tire. I plan in the future to install an air ride.
That light is a Kuryakyn LED replacement. It plugs right in, and installs with the stock screws. It seems bright enough, and works perfectly well. In my opinion, it looks much better than stock, with the smoked lens and the low profile.
Curious about that tail light setup as I'm looking around for a nice LED setup that uses the original mounting.
I need to keep it for the rack I already put on.
So if you don't mind some questions, first of all is it a LED?
If it is, is it better/brighter than the origail 1157 bulb, and are you satisfied with it?
If you are who made it, how much, and where did you get it?
I suspected as much but wasn't sure, thanks for the info.
