Im using a jack... not a jiffy stand. Not even sure what a jiffy stand is. The bike is back on the ground now... if I level it with some blocks of wood under the kickstand, the oil level is just about 1/4 the way up the stick between fill and full. Its cold. Maybe Ill fire it up in the morning and let it get hot, then check again.
About to take my Fat Boy in for my 5k service, I check the oil (hot and on side stand), and I'm 2 QUARTS LOW, it didn't even register on the dipstick after I put the first quart in. I use HD syn3, never noticed any problem with engine, runs great. The oil light flickered on for 2 seconds, which is why I checked it. and yes, I know "check your oil" check your oil", lesson learned. So my bike was running on 1 1/2 quarts, less than half...how much damage did I do, or am I lucky that all runs fine and I caught it. Had it in for my 1K, a dyno tune, had battery replaced at 4k....I guess dealers don't check oil unless you pay them too. 96 engine....I was reading that the 96 can run on 1 quart with whatever the Harley engine has in it to help fail safe. And why wouldn't my dummy light have come on earlier that 2 quarts low? Very frustrated that I may have damaged something, and it is my fault.

I doubt if you hurt any thing as long as you didn't run the engine with the oil light on, a flicker of the oil light was just showing you something wasn't right. That is what the oil light is for , as long as you shut it down I wouldn't lose much sleep over it, I would watch it though as the oil had to go somewhere.
