Slight wobble around 40mph
Ever since I replaced the front tire I've noticed a very slight wobble in the steering between 35 and 40mph. I don't consider it to be dangerous, just bothersome. I don't think there should be ANY wobble...period.
I returned it to the dealership thinking it might be a balance issue. They never re-balanced the wheel/tire, but did tighten the steering head, which seemed to dampen the wobble a little. I don't always notice it, but occassionly when traveling at that certain speed I feel it.
This is on a Deuce, BTW, with a stock 21" OEM laced wheel. Any ideas?

RE: Slight wobble around 40mph
I had to have a tire replaced under warranty while on a road trip and had the same thing happen....right around 40 mph. It had lessened quite a bit by the time I got back home and there's no weird tread wear. 1000 miles later, it still has a little shake. It might be a little out of round or some other manufacture glitch. The first one had a bubble in the sidewall at 2400 miles. It was hard underneath and they said the sidewall might be seperating. They said it probably wouldn't have blown, just start breaking up. I switch to Avons after the original Dunlaps wear out.

RE: Slight wobble around 40mph
Thanks, folks. I do check the tire pressure religiously before every day's ride - 30psi in front/40psi in back.
A friend told me to rotate the tire on the rim 90 degrees. Never heard that one before! Its time (past time, actually) for the 10K anyway. I've done most of it myself, but I will take it in an let them check and do the maintenance on the head bearings. I'll have them check the spokes and do a re-balance.
