Tonight I changed the trans oil in my 08 Rocker. First time since I got the bike this year. I did the other fluids at the same time, and once the trans oil started draining I was filling other holes, so not watching it the entire time. When I get back to the trans, it is not dripping anymore, so I put the plug in and dump 1 qt in the fill hole. However, the fluid is up at the bottom of the threads, way over full. I figure maybe it needs to get pushed thru so I start the bike for a min and shift thru the gears to see. Check it again and it is still way over full, like almost a qt. I pull the drain plug to get the level down, and barely any comes out. With the drain plug out I am looking at the fill hole almost to the brim. Almost seems as though something is blocking the drain hole. I plan on getting a scavenge pump to get the extra fluid out so I can ride again, but should I be concerned about this, or just always change the fluid with a pump thru the fill hole from now on? The bike has ran and shifted fine thus far.
The sump plug is never intended to be removed, it is only used in the manufacturing process. How did you think the transmission was way under there? The three oils in these TC B motors are very easy to identify and drain.
Make sure you check your oil level (not sure how much you got out of the case plug) and keep an eye on that case plug to ensure it does not leak. If it does leak try some teflon or loctite thread sealer on it.
And 2nd on the shop manual. I cannot remember the torque on that case plug but DO NOT over tighten it.
