I rode the 2012 Lo for a short ride and didn't find the bars that great a difference from my 2011, be it a small amount. I was hoping the Street Slammers would be more of relaxed grip over stock.

Pullback on 2012 bar is 1.5" more along with another 1.5" wider and 3"higher. It all adds up and = new brake line.

True about not a huge difference in the bars but enough for me to get some bend in my elbows. 800 miles on my 2012 bars and no more sore elbows from them locking up.

Would those of us without ABS still need the new brake line?

I can't answer that one for you. It depends on how much play you have in your brake line.
