thats awesome mike ,, im only changing the pipes for sound and look . i like the v and h short shots black. so ill just bolt them on and my stock ecm should adjust fine correct??
FLHX to FLSTFB.... after 2 roadkings i felt like a change. black denim 2012 fatboy low. lovin it
So you went from RKs to a Street Glide and then to a FatBoy? That's backwards! Most guys go from the Fatboys to either the Geezer Glide or to the Old King. Truth is... I wish I had one of each.
With just an exhaust you will be fine with the stock set up. Just change out pipes and ride her and save the engine management for when you do the heavy upgrades. Now, if you get impatient you will need to find some kind of solution if you do pipes and intake.
That's not always the case. In fact V&H, Rush , Other manufactures and lots of folk here on the forums will tell you that with a full exhaust system change you will more then likely need to ad some sort of fuel management, weather it is a ECM flash, exides or a tuner.
When I changed to a full Rush exhaust system while still using the stock Air Cleaner my bike would pop, hesitate stall and run lean as all heck. Buddy's bike (2010 Fatboy) did the same thing with the V&H Big Radius 2 into 2.
Problem solved after fuel tuner added. Also did the stage 1 Air Cleaner at the same time.
ok thanks everyone .hole puncher i wish i had the same to but i always had a road king that was my first harley and never got the softail i always wanted truth is i love them all..thanks hamdizle but im gone for looks v and h said mid nov for black radius or short shots, ill stick it out. misbehaven, i hear u and im listening i will try to put the full system and aircleaner first and see what happens i know every bike is diff!! my buddy has 10 delux with bigradius and stage 1 aircleaner without hd down load or fuel manager. haven said that well see how it works first... ill keep everyone informed in november
I just bought the same bike about a week ago. I have had the itch to get another Bike for a while now, and the Denim Black Lo was calling my name. I have a hookup through V&H (friend is a distributer for them) and have a set of Staggered Big Shots and an Intake on order. They are telling me 1-2 weeks. I am thinking of doing the stage one flash from the dealer, and then adding their FuelPack when it comes out (they are telling me a couple months for the 12 model). Right now I am doing little mods (taillight, shift linkage, license plate braket, smoked signal lenses, grips, etc...)
wow!! nice hook up to have rednose with v and h. yea im doing the same type of stuff to to mine love the feel and the ride but pipes cant come soon enough. wish u luck. im gonna go with the black short shots and air cleaner my buddy has that done to his 10 delux and it runs great!!.. im not lookin to squeeze every little hp outa of her just want it to run good and sound good. if i have a problem with popping i will get the download..
jtb,
You won't have any issue's just hooking up your pipes and riding. The ecm will pick it up just fine. I did it early on for about 5 months without any issues at all before I started my other mods.
Also, do NOT poke holes in your baffle! It sounds like chit and basically it sounds like you poked holes in your baffles!
Do it right and just bolt on your pipes and ride. Other upgrades are obviously better for performance, but are not nessesary. Ride on bro!
Yeah the ECM has no way to tell what exhasut is on the engine unless you are messing withe 02 sensors. The intake side is a different story so if you upgrade air cleaner and exhaust I would recomend getting the fuel pak when it comes out as it will work great with the pipes from VH.
