Apart from the offset front wheel on the 07 which isn't a problem there is not a thing wrong that i have encountered on my 07 to make it an off year for softails as you call it ..... when you think you've heard and seen everything there's always someone that comes along with the bigger picture! ... Thanks for sharing

Default Wheel bearings problems........

I read the posts and surprised no one mentioned the wheel bearing problems moco
experienced when they went with their 25mm axle and narrow 9276 / 25 x 15 x 52 mm
sealed wheel bearings. Softails '07 front, '08-09 front and rear use these bearings
along with non-ABS baggers. MOCO has had many failures reported and should have
recalled them but didn't - now advises inspection after 20k miles. Most failures are
on the rear as it's loaded much harder but some have also experienced front failures
too. A bad batch of bearings that moco won't own up to - surprise - that had almost
no grease in them. Late '09's got decent bearings and seem ok.

FWIW- PM uses this size bearing in some custom wheels but guess what - on the rear
pulley side they stack two bearings for extra strength. PM also uses top of the line
japanese Fujikoshi bearings, not chinese junk. BTW - swapped my Fatboy for an old
man's SG so don't need the 6 new Fujikoshi bearings that I have - $50 shipped.

IMHO - way ahead with the '08 Fatboy - moco just never gets it right first time
around - bike design, transmissions, wheel bearings and all the rest.

I love my 07 and ride the hell out of it with no problems.
