The most unfortunate part of all this is that this is common everywhere. I feel the same way here in Utah. The majority of Dealers feel like they have a monopoly (and thanks to HD's protected territories they kind of do) and so they don't have to earn our money, they should just automatically get it. I used to purchase all of my parts online rather than give my local shop and money, but with HD changing that policy Jan. 1 it is going to be much harder for me to get around my Dealer who has LOST my business on more than one occasion.

Yes, HD will do anything to protect their dealers from service improving competition including stopping the sales of parts on the internet. They go over this kind of stuff at the dealer meetings... it's like a union hall meeting. The difference is the union hall meetings are attempting to protect the rights of a great number of people and the hd dealer meetings are about protecting the rights of a few people who can't stay profitable so they protect the rights of the few even more... it's called a 'black hole of economics'. The more they do to try and save the ship by tightening the dollars the fewer the number of dollars that come in... when they should be focusing on service to the customer.

doesn't matter where you purchase the bike if under warranty. You can take to anything HD dealership, they will fix it for you. I think that dealership just don't want to waste their time for other dealers problem.

So when I picked up the bike everything was done. I asked a few questions;
1. Why did they not want to repair my bike since it was not purchased there?
Answer: We are not responsible for other dealership work.
2. You already told me that you believe that the pad was not put in correctly at
Factory. So are you as a dealership responsible for warrenty work to correct
Factory defect?
Answer: yes but only if Harley authorizes it.
3. So did you ever make a attempt to call Harley on my behalf ?
Answer: No that is better done by the customer because Harley is more
responsive to customers than dealerships.
4. Ok if that is true then why did you not tell me from the beginning to call
Harley to begin with?
Answer: i'm glad you called and got it taken care of. (would not give me a
answer)
I saw I was not getting anywhere so I just told him I would not be back to this dealership and will let everyone I know about how this was handled

Good thing I have another dealership in the area I can go to. In the end i'm very happy with the Harley Customer Rep. She took care of me and i'm back to riding my bike. Hopefully I will not have to have any warrenty work done but if I do I know how to handle it.

You still didn't identify the dealer so that someone else could avoid them.
