So after much thought I have narrowed it down to the RSD Vintage King Apes..about $340..I was thumbing through the VTwin catalog and found almost the exact same design by Wyatt Gatling for $135..anybody have any thoughts on the quality or am I just paying for the RSD name?
Dunno who is charging $340 for the king ape, but I can get them for less than that for you shipped. RSD stuff is all made in teh PM factory in La Palma, CA. I don;t know anything about the WG stuff or where it si made but my guess is at that cost they are made in Taiwan, Cina, or Korea.
Personally, I would rather pay a little more and support the US economy to ensure some it might still be here in 20 years. If you want pricing on teh bars pm or email em at DREW@DRVTWIN.COM
Agree with the DR. Does it cost more to buy American made yes, but that you know that the odds are it will be a quality part, with in spec and you keep the money here in the States. Yes sometimes you will get a dud. I do not have any RSD stuff but do have lots of Performance Machine stuff which I assume is made at the same plant and it all has held up great over the years. I am not impressed at all by any of the parts you get from VTWIN MFG. Have a tail light from them that I had to pretty much rebuild to get it to work right, they offered no replacement or replacement parts. Better of spending a little more and doing the job right the first time so you do not have to redo it.

Yes, PM and RSD stuff is all made in the same place. I was there two weeks ago. They do everyhting on site. Polsihing, powder coating, fabrication, CNC, etc.
After you have a quality bar you will never go to a cheap one. Just saying. RSD, Carlini, LA Choppers B&R etc. When you have bars like that you need to have good welds. Ask MIKE about cheap bars, his broke while riding
BR Custom bars make some really high quality stuff. I have dealt with them before on a set of custom apes. I told him the exact measurements and two weeks later I had them. Great welds and at an affordable price. Check out his website he makes some crazy ****.
