I have a blacked-out 05 FLSTSCI and am begining the search for a new seat. I am concerned because it seems those of us who are Springer Classic fans are often disappointed when we read the fine print on certain parts to learn they fit everything BUT our bike. As I peruse the Corbin and Mustang websites, do I need to be concerned about such a situation? Do all their softail seats fit my scooter, or should I be looking for one that specifically says it fits the Springer Classic? Is there anything about the SC that makes it require a special seat?
I like the look/function of the stock seat/pillion/rack found on the Deluxe, but have heard they are as uncomfortable as John Kerry at an American Legion. I am strongly concerned about maintaining the look of my bike, but would like to stop having the seat cut into the back of my thighs.
Sounds like your happy with the seat you have but for the wide hard edge.
It rubs on mu leg to but not enough to bug me.
You might find an uphulster guy that can rework it for you. ....soften the edge and make it norrower.
Many of the Deluxe guy's had there seats reworked to move the rider back.
If I understand your problem correctly yours could very well be an easier fix then theirs.
I thought about that, but now the old lady says she wants something more comfotable for when she decides to join in the fun. I have been runing with a black rack in place of the stock pillion, and like the function/look of the solo and rack combo, but now I need to make room for mamma... she doesn't need much room but I want to protect those buns of hers. I like the look of the stock deluxe seat/rack combo.. maybe I should have one of those worked over?
I am curious if there are any fast/easy rules of thumbs about what other softail model seats might work on a springer classic. Will a seat designed for a Heritage Springer work on an 05 Springer classic? Will seats designed for the Deulxe bolt on to my stock 05 FLSTSCI?
I got the wide passenger pillon from harley for the springer.
Hate to say this but my girl actually fell asleep on me. needless to say she finds it comfy.
good luck in your searches.
I think I've decided that I'm gonna search for a take-off seat/rail/pillion/rack from a Deluxe and have it reworked with gel pads and the like for my Springer Classic. A couple of questions:
Will the Deluxe seat arrangements bolt onto a Springer Classic? Specifically the solo seat and rail along with the pillion and rack combo. How about the touring pillion option? Is that compatible with the rack?
Anyone know of a shop in/near St Louis that reworks seats?
