I have a 99 softtail nighttrain and had it in the shop for check up last year. I think they put to much fluid in and now right side fork is leaking out the top. been that way for about 2000 miles cause I didn`t want to take up riding time. does any one know how hard it is to fix, and if special tools are needed, I`m pretty good with tools but never dove into the down tubes before. Just got done putting a frankenstein trike kit on wifes sportster and put a raked tripple tree set up on her trike but never dug inside before any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. don`t like having to go to dealers more than I have to. to many bad experiances there. thanks in advance.
You need a new fork seal. I'd take it back to the clown who overfilled the fork and have him do it. You have to disassemble the fork by removing the bolt out of the damper rod on the bottom of the lower tube, and you need a "driver" to get the new for seal in place along with new oil.
ok drew thanks, I might take it back but I just get so pissed at the dealers it`s like a fifty fifty shot around here. not alot of competition around here.

Buy the tools and do it yourself. It's not rocket science. If your planning on riding for a good long time, your going to have to do it again. Ain't nothing magical about what dealers or indys do, it's all just torning a wrench. Buy a manual, that's all you need.
xwhyz sounds good to me, I was looking through manual and it doesn`t look to bad was just wondering if there was any surprises in there that the manual doesn`t tell ya. and when I`m doing stuff there always seems to be a surprise. lol . and ya i`ll be riding a good long time. thanks for advise. it`s up for the winter now so I have time to dive into it. I`m going to change out the bars to so perfect timming for it all.
