i agree 100% the service manager told me that they will go in once and if that does not do it he will request a new trans be installed. So we will see what happens this week. Truth be told i don't think this bike will see the street until next week end.

I guess it could be worse...like right smack in the middle of summer! [&:]
ok monday dec 4 got a call from the service manager. "HD called and approved to change parts a and b". Now My question is this, without even taking the trans apart to find out what is acutally wrong the dealer is going to take apart the transmission and take a look inside the trans in the mean time while they are waiting for the new parts. so from the very start this has been a guessing game from the folks at hd and the dealer. BS from the door
Consider yourself lucky, your tranny is probably the first or one of the first w/this problem and HD is replacing it so they can see what failed. The MoCo will probably not let dealer into your old one.
In the words of "Bubba the love Sponge" i am calling shinnagines on this one. I recieved a call from the service manager tonight and he said the following. "The noise is within eceptable levels" according to the HD Tech rep that was at the dealer. The tech rep also had the Fing nerve to ask "is he going to change the pipes on this bike" as doing so would then make the noise not as noticable. What the F is that about. I told the SM that that was insulting in so many words. I told the SM that this entire BS must be documented and that i must have a copy of this info before i pick my bike up. There are two other softail standards at this dealer that are making the same noise according to the SM. HD does not have a clue as to the source of this noise. The prior attempts to figure this problem out was all guessing at it's finest. So that's it! I will be sending a letter (certified) to HD headquarters to let them know what is going on with this bike , the dealer, and the tech rep.
sounds like you need a new exhaust, then you won't be able to hear it. i suggest rush slip-ons with 2 or 2.25" baffles!
exactly what i said in the last post. man, make her loud, you won't hear it than!!
update: the word is the tire that hd is using is the cause of the noise. make sure that if this happens to you that you get it in writing that the factory will cover this in the event of trouble down the road. they chandged the drive belt and pully per hd and no change
